Greetings, I'm Mike Gao.
I’m interested in the application of computer graphics and machine learning (rendering techniques, denoising methods, and artistic style transfer). My recent projects include implementing a neural style program to transform images to paintings using VGG-19 and a photorealistic ray tracer.
I completed research exploring the method of transforming paintings into classical music using Generative Adversarial Network. The music generator software my coworkers and I developed takes classical impressionist paintings as an input and generates classical music as an output. My co-authored paper published on IEEE ROBIO 2018 can be found here.
I constructed a realistic roller coaster simulation incorporating calculus and physics as well as a face recognizer program using Haar cascade classifier for detection and Eigenface for the recognition algorithm.
